Thanksgiving

My Thanksgiving was great. I went to New York because my brother, Brian, is in the Purdue marching band, and they performed in the Macy's Day Parade.  It was a really cool experience and a lot better than I would've expected it to be.  The best part is that because we were walking so much, I didn't gain any weight!  That's always a bonus in my eyes.  My favorite parts were probably the parade and going to see the statue of liberty.  They were both really neat.  This was definitely a Thanksgiving I will never forget.

Monty Python

So after a few years of everyone telling me I need to watch the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," I finally watched it.  I had heard so many good things about it and heard how funny it was.  I was so excited to finally see it.  Once I saw it, however, it was terrible.  It was just slightly better than "Napolean Dynamite," in my opinion.  I was very disappointed with "Monty Python."  It was one of those movies where I actually kept checking the time, counting down til the end.  Of course, there were some funny parts in the movie, but overall I did not like it very much.  I would not recommend it to anyone.

Thanksgiving

I cannot wait for Thanksgiving.  My brother David, will be coming to town from Texas.  I can't wait to see him.  Plus, my other brother, Brian, is in the Purdue marching band, and they are performing in the Macy's Day Parade.  Therefore, my family and I get to go to New York for Thanksgiving.  I think it's an amazing opportunity.  I also can't wait to go Black Friday shopping up there.  It's going to be a blast.  I think this is my 9th year in a row going Blak Friday shopping.  I love it.  The only downside to all of this is I have to fly to get there, obviously.  I hate flying.  I get motion sickness so easily.  The last time I flew, I ended up puking during the last 30 seconds of the flight. Definitely not looking forward to that.

Cover Letter

Our group’s topic is racial profiling.  Working in groups has been productive because we all are not afraid to share our opinions on most topics.  It gives us a good view as to what's going on in the world and we start a descent debate with it.  I believe the topic racial profiling will be a successful one. Finding the proposal and research sources was easy.  So far I have had no problems and think it is going well so far.  I am hoping my paper is going to be a good one.  I did a large amount of research to prove that racial profiling does exists, and to show that it affects society in a negative way.  I personally believe that the all of the things I learned about racial profiling will be helpful in the future.  I will have a stronger argument if a debate ever came up into conversation.  This topic is not something I’m generally in love with, but it has been a very good learning experience while writing this paper.  I have gained a better understanding of racial profiling and how it is used.

Halloween

Well as a follow up of last weeks blog, my boyfriend and I have decided we love each other too much to end it.  It hurts too bad knowing it's a forced ending.  It's good to know everything is back to normal.

But anyways, college and halloween combined is amazing.  I haven't had such a good weekend in so long.  It was so much fun.  I dressed up as a mouse for halloween and uploaded my pictures on facebook.  My brother, who lives in Texas, saw the pictures and decided to text me about them.  His text read, "Minnie Mouse? You would have made a better pumpkin."  If calling your sister fat doesn't show you love her, then I don't know what does.

ugh.

Heartbreaks.  Why do they hurt so much?  It didn't end because either one of us wanted to, but because it had to.  It was time to end our 9 month relationship that we've held in secret.  It sucks and I feel horrible.  I don't know what else to say other than this is the worst I've ever felt and this is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through.

Research

So far my group has picked the topic racial profiling.  Working in groups has been productive because we all are not afraid to share our opinions on most topics.  It gives us a good view as to what's going on in the world and we start a descent debate with it.  I believe the topic racial profiling will be a successful one.

10 pounds

My mom and I made a bet when I left for college that I have to lose ten pounds by Christmas or else I have to buy her a massage.  So far, I'm losing.  The food here is going to kill me.  I would've thought that with the combination of gym class, working out in my free-time, plus walking all over the place on weekends for parties, I would be losing weight like crazy.  Well I was completely wrong.  If anyone has any tips as to how to lose weight faster please let me know.  I don't have $60 to buy my mom a massage.  I hate to admit it, but the "freshman fifteen" is extremely true.

I Hate the Rain

Rain: it ruins everything.  I was supposed to go to a Rennaisance Fair this weekend, but of course the rain ruined it.  My neighbor, and also my best friend, Adam, was meeting me Fishers to go to the fair.  Instead, however, we ended up driving to Indy to go to the mall.  On the drive there it was pretty entertaining.  I swear me and Adam act like we are married sometimes.  We kept arguing with each other about which way we were supposed to be going, or to move over a lane, or somehting along those lines.  Once we finally made it to Indy we had to figure out our way through the city to find a parking garage.  It would've been really easy except that there was a parade downtown so they had a lot of the streets blocked off.  So of course, we continued to argue.  Eventually we found a parking garage and enjoyed our day in Indy.  It was a fun time.  We saw "The Social Network" and that was a pretty descent movie.  Then after, we went to Hardrock Cafe.  Once I got back to Muncie, I had intentions to go to a party later that night.  However, I was tired and fell asleep at 7:30 and didn't wake up until 2.  My party night was pretty much ruined.  All and all, it was a good, relaxing weekend.

A weekend like a rollercoaster: started at the peak and headed down

My weekend. Where do I start? It started off amazing!  On Friday, I went to a Mexican fiesta with my brother's old fraternity brothers.  It was so much fun.  Everyone there is so nice and they are all really cool people.  I left there around 1 in the morning and fell asleep around 2.  I woke up at 6 to go to Purdue for the football game.  I lived off of red bulls this day.  It was a great day, even though Purdue lost.  I came home and had another red bull to help keep myself awake for the night ahead of me.  I was extremely excited to go new places with new people.  The first party I went to wasn't anything too exciting, besides the people on the couch practically having sex with clothes on.  We left this party early and went to a different house.  The party atmosphere was very cool at the new place, and it would be a fun place to hang out if you have a good guy friend there with you.  I, however, did not so it wasn't that fun.  The guys there were not necessarily "nice" people.  I left that house in anger and walked back to my dorm.  I don't want to go in a huge amount of detail, but it was not a good night.  I wish all the fraternities here were like my brother's.

What I Miss

1) I really, really miss good Mexican food.  I'm from the Chicago area and there is a place in my county called East Chicago, otherwise known as "Little Mexico."  There are so many Mexican restaurants near me, and the food is amazing.  I love spicy food and the only Mexican food I've gotten here is mediocre.  I miss tacos, tamales, and rice so much!

2) I also really miss my cat.  I know it sounds somewhat like I'm a lonely cat person, but I miss my boo.  He cuddled up into my arm every night when I slept.  I used to find that annoying, but now I miss it.  I am almost tempted to see how long I can try and hide my cat in my dorm room.

3)  Not having my close friends here sucks.  It was nice to have them minutes away from my house, but now they are three and a half hours away.  I'm not worried about making new friends here.  That part is easy.  However, it's not so easy to build a friendship that is as close as some of my friends from back home.  I takes time to build a close friendship.

The Best Weekend I've had in a While.

This weekend was a really great one and a humorous one.  On Friday night, I went to bed early because I had to be up at six in the morning to go to the Purdue football game.  I went to bed and woke up to my drunk roomate standing over me saying my name.  This really scared me and was better than any alarm clock.  She asked if she could borrow my phone and I handed it to her.  I asked her where her boyfriend was because he came up from Illinois to see her and she replied with, "I don't know.  We got into a fight and I don't know where he is and he has my phone."  She called him and asked him where he was and he was over by the bell tower.  I told my roomate I would go with her once I put socks and shoes on.  Once I was dressed I said, "I'm ready."  She didn't reply because she had already fallen asleep.  So I had to find her boyfriend at one in the morning that night.
On Saturday, I drove up to Purdue.  My brother is in the marching band there and my family always goes to support him.  Being his little sister it is my duty to embarass him.  I screamed, "Brian Niedzwiecki I love you," when it was dead silent.  I guarantee everyone heard it.  Then they have what's called a "hail challenge" question.  They are always really hard math problems and I have never won.  However, this time I did win.  I was ecstatic.  I got to conduct the band and once again I embarassed my brother.  I made him point himself out to me and I said, "I love you," once again.
After the game we tailgated for a little while, and then I headed out to Renssalaer to visit my best friend at Saint Joseph's College.  On Sunday, I went to her soccer game and she had explained to me earlier that she only warms the bench.  As I sat there in boredom because the team was losing and my best friend was on the bench, the last 7 minutes of the game the coach put her in the game.  I cheered so loud and blew into the vuvuzela she made me bring to the game.  I was so happy to see her play.  Needless to say, it was icing on the cake for my already fun weekend.

Labor Day

I definitely enjoyed this 3-day weekend.  It was good to see my friends from home.  I think the best part of coming home was having a clean shower that tons of other girls don't shower in.  I also really missed my own bed.  Coming home was nice and relaxing, and I'm glad I made the choice to come back to Dyer.  It wasn't the most exciting weekend, but it was still great.  Now I just have to go through this dreadful 3 1/2 hour drive back to Muncie.

My college experience....so far.

Leaving home was something hard to do, but leaving my friends has been even harder.  I do not really have any close friends that came to Ball State, so at times it can be hard.  However, I'm doing well getting myself out there to try and meet new people.  I have already been to my first couple of parties, and those have been extremely fun.  It's been nice to meet new people.
So far the schoolwork hasn't been too difficult, but I know it will get worse.  Thankfully, though, I seem to like all my teachers so that's a plus.  Other than that, this has been my life here at Ball State.
